MILITARY ORDER OF THE DEVIL DOGS

CONSTITUTION

 

             ARTICLE I ‑ PREAMBLE

 

We, Marines and honorably discharged Marines, bona fide, paid‑up and active members of the Marine Corps League, Inc., do hereby unite to form a permanent organization to be known as the Pack of Texas, Military Order of the Devil Dogs, Inc.

 

This, the Military Order of the Devil Dogs, Inc. was hereby created and organized in 1939, and chartered on the 19th day March 1940, in Boston Massachusetts.

 

ARTICLE I I ‑ PURPOSES

 

It shall be the purpose of this organization to:

 

1.       Observe, obey and support the Constitution, Bylaws and all Rules and Regulations

of the Marine Corps League, Inc.

 

2.       Preserve and strengthen the principles and ideals of the Marine Corps League, Inc.

 

3.       Aid and assist in the accomplishment of all programs and objectives of the Marine Corps League, Inc.

 

4.        As the Fun and Honor Society of the Marine Corps League, Inc., promoting sociability, comradeship and     good‑fellowship, to provide amusement and entertainment at all gatherings of the Marine Corps League, Inc.    When and where proper and advisable.

 

5.        Maintain true allegiance to the United States of America and its Constitution and laws, to foster and extend American institutions of Freedom, and to defend America against all enemies whomsoever.

 

 

 

ARTICLE III ORGANIZATION

 

The recognized official bodies of this association shall consist of and be:

 

1.       Local Organizations to be known as (Name) Pound No. Military Order of the Devil Dogs, Inc., the meeting   place of which shall be known as the Pound, and the meetings of which shall be known as the GROWL of the Pound, provided no Pound shall adopt or use a name already in use by another Pound.

 

2.        The State Organization to be known as Pack of Texas, Military Order of the Devil Dogs, Inc., the meeting place   of which shall be known as the Den, and the meetings of which shall be known as the Growl of the PACK.

 

3.        The National Organization to be known as the Kennel, Military Order of the Devil Dogs, Inc., the meeting place   of which shall be known as the Kennel, and the meetings of which shall be known as the SUPREME  GROWL.

 

 

 

ARTICLE IV MEMBERSHIP

 

All officers and enlisted personnel on honorable active duty with the U. S. Marine Corps and all officers and enlisted personnel honorably separated from the U. S. Marine Corps who are bona fide, paid‑up, active members of the Marine Corps League, Inc., shall be eligible for consideration for and election to, membership in the Military Order of the Devil Dogs, Inc.

 

ARTICLE V LANGUAGE

 

The only language permissible in the conduct of any official meeting of any Pound, Pack, or the Kennel shall be the English language.

 

 

 

ARTICLE V1 AMENDMENTS

 

This Constitution may be amended in the following manner:

 

1. Devil Dogs, or Pounds seeking to revise, repeal or amend this Constitution shall submit their proposals in typewritten or legible form to the WORTHY PACK SMART DOG no later than 15 March prior to the opening date of THE GRAND GROWL OF THE PACK OF TEXAS, at which their proposals are to be considered. All proposals must contain the identity of the maker or submitter. Otherwise they will not be considered. The WORTHY PACK SMART DOG will propagate the proposals without comment by having the WORTHY PACK BARKING DOG mail all proposals to each POUND KEEPER no later than 15 April prior to the opening date of the GRAND GROWL OF THE PACK OF TEXAS at which time such proposed revision, repeal, or amendment is to be considered. The said notice shall reference the ARTICLES and PARAGRAPHS to be revised, repealed, or amended.

 

2. The WORTHY PACK DOG ROBBER will be guided by the instructions contained in ARTICLE XIII of the BYLAWS in ensuring that proper notifications have been made in a timely fashion.

 

3. Provisions one and two of this Article having been complied with, the proponents and opponents of each proposed amendment shall have no more than twenty (20) minutes each to state their case. A STANDING VOTE FOR and a STANDING VOTE AGAINST shall be taken, and a correct record of the votes FOR and AGAINST shall be posted in the minutes of the PACK GRAND GROWL. In each case where it is found that upon a careful count, two‑thirds (2/3) of the total registered DEVIL DOGS have voted FOR a proposed amendment, said proposed amendment shall be considered to be approved, and all Pounds shall be supplied without delay copies of any amendments approved by the PACK GRAND GROWL. Proposed amendments that do not receive a two‑thirds (2/3) vote of approval shall be void and without effect and shall not be considered nor re-­proposed until after the expiration of no less than six (6) months.

 

4.  It shall not be permissible for any session of the PACK GROWL to waive any of the foregoing provisions.
